Abstract: Describes the Art Therapy Department at St. Lawrence's Hospital and its functions (e.g., diagnostic and assessment aid, direct therapeutic aid, resident employment, and research). It is concluded that art therapy is more than simply the production of images that are aesthetically pleasing; it involves the use of creative work as a vehicle for self-expression, with the aim of promoting the development of the individual.
