The beat reproduction response of subjects with normal and impaired hearing: An empirical comparison |
Journal/Book: Journal of Music Therapy. 1979; 16: Silver Spring, Maryland, USA. National Association for Music Therapy. 91-98.
Abstract: The study was designed to examine the beat reproduction responses of normal and hearing-impaired subjects on the basis of four considerations: (a) auditory experience, (b) auditory involvement during stimulus presenta- tion, (c) auditory deprivation, and (d) tempo. Data were analyzed for tempo- ral deviation in auditory and tempo conditions. A two-way ANOVA indicated a significant temporal deviation difference between normal and hearing-impaired subjects. A significant temporal deviation difference was also found among four selected tempi. Observation of data indicated group tendencies for fastness or slowness.
