Cancer research in China.

A general review of medical care organization and cancer research in popular China is presented. Emphasis is laid on the fast development since 1949, and especially in the last decade, of up-to-date methodology for cancer early diagnosis, therapy and prevention in a population of over 500 million people. Large-scale actions in search of etiologic factors, particularly in the rural areas, are carried out by national and regional coordinating groups all over the country. A combination of traditional medicine with Western medicine has led to a high rate of improvement of the survival rate and even of cure in various forms of cancer.
