A consideration of clinical methodology in the remedial education for the young mentally retarded |
Journal/Book: Japanese Journal of Child Psychiatry. 1978; 19: 125-136.
Abstract: Defines remedial education as an integration of psychotherapy for personality development and sensory-motor training for curing developmental disorders. In working with mentally retarded children, the author has combined sensory-motor training with 6 psychotherapeutic approaches--play therapy, music therapy, art therapy, the Montessori method, gross motor therapy, and mother-child therapy. A checklist that can be used in determining the effectiveness of remedial education is presented. (24 ref)
