Abstract: The president of the National Association of Music Therapy discusses issues important to the continuation of the art therapies. These include insurance reimbursement for services, changing concepts of the creative arts in mental illness, the question of accountability, and the need for art therapy to move from psychoanalytic theory to behavior modification.
