Permanent translocation heterozygosity in VISCUM ALBUM and VISCUM CRUCIATUM: Sex association, balanced lethals, sex ratio |
Journal/Book: Heredity 40 (1), 33-38. 1978;
Abstract: Translocation heterozygosity is characteristic of male plants of Viscumhildebrandtii Engl. (n=14) and V. engleri Tiegh. (n=14). Both speciesare polymorphic with regard to the known chromosome associations whichinclude: 12II, 1IV; 11II, 1VI; 10II, 2IV; 10II, 1VIII; 9II, 1IV, 1VI and6II, 1IV, 2VI. All multivalents are rings. The translocationheterozygosity is not associated with a distortion of the sex ratio infavour of female plants, as occurs in V. fischeri Engl., but probablywith the differentiation and adaptation of biotypes.COPYRIGHT BY Elsevier Science BV, Amsterdam, Netherlands END OF DOCUMENT
