Application of psychotherapy in the psychological care of children with minimal brain dysfunction |
Journal/Book: Psychologia a Patopsychologia Dietata. 1977; 12: 229-234.
Abstract: Describes several psychomotor and psychotherapeutic procedures (e.g., rhythmical motion exercises (playing musical instruments), motion dramatics, and relaxation techniques (autogenic training)) used with children with minimal brain dysfunction. These methods attempt, from a physiological standpoint, to improve physical skill, strength, elasticity, and speed; and from a psychological viewpoint, to promote coordination of fine motor behavior; improve perseverance, concentration, motional memory, and will power; and elicit positive emotional experiences. Overall, these methods attempt to raise the child's self-confidence and trust in his or her own abilities. (4 ref)
