Artistic therapies in the Rudolf Steiner School for Curative Education |
Journal/Book: Australian Journal of Mental Retardation. 1977; 4: 19-21.
Abstract: Uses case examples to illustrate the successful use of art therapies (music, painting, poetry, and drama) with handicapped children. Used in the Rudolf Steiner School and Homes for Curative Education for 52 yrs, artistic therapies are believed to "force" the children to view the outside world from a nonpathological point of view. The appropriately chosen artistic therapy breaks down the walls of isolation and, with them, many of the pathological impediments to development.
