Experimentell-gerontologische Untersuchungen der Revitalisierung |
Journal/Book: Cytobiologische Revue. 1977; 1:
Abstract: Revitalization of an organism which has passed the vitality-climax is, as has to be objectivated by means of several age parameters, the prolonged maintenance or recovery of a vitality level corresponding to a significantly lower biological age than would accord with the chronological age of the organism. The experiments involved observations on: 1. Tissue respiration (either in the Warburg apparatus directly, or indirectly by way of succinate dehydrogenase, the respiratory chain enzyme);2. Lipofuscin content in the brain, the myocardium, and other organs;3. Isometrics of and heat - labile collagen in the tail tendon;4. Elasticity and tensile strength of the labile collagen in the skin;5. Longitudinal and transverse elasticity of the aorta;6. Motoric activity;7. Ability to learn and memory.Investigated further was the effect of lyophilized organ homogetes/suspensions, lyophilized cell organelles, of geriatric drugs, of a microclimate (Böckstein thermal gallery Bad Gastein), of fasting days, and gait training. The results of the various observation series are comprehensively illustrated.
