Musicotherapy in infantile autism |
Journal/Book: Vie medicale au Canada francais. 1976; 5: 1257-1264.
Abstract: Discusses the fundamentals of musicotherapy as applied to infantile autism and the therapeutic scheme. Some generalities concerning autism and terminologies of musicotherapy are reviewed. The author's experiences with autistic children treated with musicotherapy are presented, as well as two sequence-types and the reactions of the children. Music is used as an intermediary object between the autistic child and the real world. Musicotherapy not only uses musical sounds and instruments, but also electronic sounds and other nonverbal processes.
