Abstract: Describes therapy sessions for patients at a partial hospitalization unit and later in an inpatient service. Experiments were conducted with several combinations of sense modality and expressive outlets, including sound, vision, taste, smell, music, art, dance, and literature. The patients became a more cohesive group, and rapport between patients and therapists improved. Also noted were a decrease in tension, the constructive release of emotions, and an increased ability to function in a reality-oriented environment.
