Abstract: On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Middeloo the author gave this lecture. By means of three listening examples she wishes to shed light on the possibilities of music therapy in rehabilitation. Important factors are to her that the child can get some self-confidence, express his/her emotions and achieve communication. Music therapy must not be an extension of medical therapies, but connect with the emotional needs of the child at that moment.
