Journal/Book: GODART Bulletin VOLUME 2 NO. 1 / SEPTEMBER 1962 PUBLISHED BY N.V. GODART - DE BILT (U) - HOLLAND. 1962;
Abstract: The Godard Bulletin is issued by N.V. Godard de Bilt manufactures of equipment for the cardio-pulmonary function laboratory President: Mr. J. G. Godard *Received from the University Technical Experimental Center of the Catholic University of Louvain. Ir. de Dobbeleer is dirctor of the above Center. - What we call the clinical value of the blood pressure is the value obtained by the physician who measures the blood pressure by the standardized method with inflatable cuff and stethoscope (Riva-Rocci) at a decrease in pressure of 3 mm. Hg/sec. - It is obvious that the clinical systolic and diastolic pressure values do not correspond with the true pressure in the arterial system. This however is of Subordinate importance because in actual fact the true pressures vary with various sites of determination and it is only in exceptional Gases that these absolute values are available to the physician. The clinical value however is generally recognized and accepted and its Interpretation offers no difficulty. . . .
