Abstract: The inhibitory influence of basic proteins from Viscum album on the RNA synthesis in Yoshida Ascites cells. The cancerostatic protein complex isolated from misteltoe as already described inhibits the RNA synthesis in YOSHIDA ascites cells at doses of about 0,1 ?g/ml. The substance possibly affects the process of transcription and has a certain specificity as there is a residual RNA synthesis of 30 percent that cannot be further reduced by even much higher doses of the protein. After denaturation of the active protein its inhibitory action increases which might be due to loss of specificity.
