Acupuncture and headache therapy: Only placebo or effective pain therapy?

Abstract: Acupuncture is being used empirically in the treatment of pain and of migraine. Acupuncture is seen as a therapy out of the sector of unconventional medicine. Up to now, sustained application of acupuncture in Western medicine has been impeded by the lack of a scientifically convincing explanation of the mechanisms of action in terms of neurobiological criteria.A definitive evaluation of acupuncture based on well-founded clinical experimental studies has yet to be made. The: basic reason of these facts is that looked at acupuncture by methodological aspects it is difficult to use the esta nsmitters. Further studies for understanding its mechanism should be carried out. Therefore it is necessary to establish suitable methods for the future acupuncture research.
