Friedrich Wilhelm Schwartz) Korrespondenzadresse: Dr. phil Matthias Wismar Medizinische Hochschule Hannover Abteilung Epidemiologie Sozialmedizin und Gesundheitssystemforschung Hannover Zusammenfassung Die Gesundheitssystemforschung zielt darauf ab einen Beitrag zum Fortschritt der Medizin und des Gesundheitswesens zu leisten. Um eine Brücke zwischen der wissenschaftlichen und der politisch-administrativen Handlungslogik zu schlagen bedient sie sich der Politikberatung. Diese hat unterschiedlich gute Chancen zu einer rationalen Gesundheitspolitik beizutragen. Wesentliche Themen der Gesundheitssystemforschung mit potentiellem Beitrag zum Fortschritt in Medizin und Gesundheitswesen sind: ergebnisorientierte Gesundheitsziele ergebnisorientierte Vergütung Health Technology Assessment neue Versorgungsformen Patienteninformation sowie Altern und Gesundheit. Die Relevanz dieser - zum Teil noch im Embryonalstadium stehenden - Entwicklungen für die Ärzteschaft liegt in ihrem unmittelbaren Eingreifen in die ärztliche Praxis. Eine frühzeitige Zurkenntnisnahme und kritische Bewertung der Fortschrittsfelder ist daher empfehlenswert. Abstract Current tasks of health system research and politics consulting Health systems research aims to contribute to the progressive development of medicine and health services. To bridge the gap between the two logics of sientific and the political administrative agency politics consultancy may be applied. However the chances of transferring scientific knowledge into rational politics vary widely. Major issues of health system research include outcome oriented health targets outcome oriented reimbursement health technology assessment new forms of provision patient information and ageing in regard to healthcare. Physicians are adviced to keep in touch with these developments - although some of them are still in an embryonic stage - because they have the potential to deeply influence the physician's practice routines in the future.
