Directing misperceptions: Researching the issues facing manual-based treatments

Abstract: This article addresses the issues facing manual-based treatments by considering six of the common misperceptions regarding flexibility, clinical judgment, creativity, reification, comorbidity, and research versus practice applicability. Each misperception is followed by a recommendation for research directions to discover the facts surrounding manual-based treatments.
