Natriumselenit - eine Anwendungsbeobachtung in der adjuvanten Tumortherapie

Abstract: In a multicentric, open study the effectiveness and tolerance of sodium selenite tablets (100 µg selenium/ tablet) has been investigated under the conditions of daily practice for a period of 24 weeks. In the beginning, the daily dose was on the average 2 tablets and after 12 or 24 weeks 1.5 tablets.The investigation was carried with 570 male and female carcinoma patients. The average age of these patients was about 60 years. Their tumor disease was known for an average period of 33 month; 37 % of the patients already showed metastases.After the biometric evaluation of the report sheets, the results were as following:About 68 % of the patients showed a "clear improvement" and another 22 % of the cases showed a "slight improvement" of the symptoms "exhaustion", "bad general condition", "lack of appetite", "loss of weight", "immunodeficiency", and "tumor pain". Only 8 % of the cases showed "no therapeutic effect". The tablets were tolerated very well in more than 77 % of the cases and well in more than 20 % of the cases. 82.5 % of the patients wanted to continue to take the preparation after the end of the study.The improvement of the state of health of the patients which occurred during the taking of the preparation corresponds to the effects which were proven in a doubleblind, adjuvant, chemopreventive selenium tumor therapy.
