The water and ethanol extracts of Lao Gua Tou (Cynanchum komarovii) is effective on relieving cough caused by the irritation of ammonnia water in mice. The extract can increase the secretion of repiratory tract and promote expectoration, also alleviate asthma induced by histamine and acetylcholing chloride in guinea pigs.
