Issues in designing and conducting randomized human service trials: Lessons from the field

Abstract: This paper discusses issues in designing and implementing randomized human service trials. Maintenance of the scientific rigor of these interventions often requires a good deal of creativity and anticipation of potential problems. These issues are defined by the experience of the author in designing, implementing and reviewing grant applications for random human service trials. Suggestions for addressing these issues are offered.
