Abstract: Based on the therapistÕs sense of the clientÕs resistance as expressed through a lack of dynamic and interaction in music therapy I will describe and investigate dynamic and interaction in clinical improvisations with an anorectic client. I will develop my own model for description of these aspects of the improvisations, as a basis for a holistic assessment of the manifestation of ÒBarriersÓ (Kurtz) in the client. Kenneth BrusciaÕs Improvisational Assessment Profiles and Peter SimpkinsÕ questions for observation of non-verbal musical response in music therapy are discussed.
