Die Bedeutung des Zinkstatus für die Diagnostik und Therapie der Infertilität

Abstract: Zinc levels in erythrocytes, serum and urine were determined in 842 women with an unfulfilled wish for a child. A significant correlation was found between serum zinc levels and the urinary zinc excretion. The latter in turn was significantly correlated to the urinary concentrations of mercury, cadmium, lead and copper. Women with anovulation or nicotine abuse had significantly greater urinary zinc levels than those with ovulatory cycles and nonsmokers, respectively. Women who miscarried during the observation period also showed an increased urinary zinc excretion. A higher babytake-home-rate was achieved in women with infertility due to hormonal disorders with the combined administration of zinc and hormonal therapy in comparison to single line treatments.
