Qualität versus QuantitätDynamische Prozesse im Vergleich zur statischen Betrachtung der Schulmedizin

Abstract: Starting out from Newton's mechanistic working hypothesis, quantitative examination techniques were a dictate of time. The technical progress made deep insights up to the smallest details of the cells possible. Diseases were understood as being a defect of substances, i.e. purely from a mechanistic point of view, since cellular pathology of Virchow. This was the reason, why the efforts concentrated on pure refinements of the quantitative methods of examination. Exact descriptions of substance and structure became an indispensable basis of all scientific considerations. They even went a step further. Everything which was not quantitative, was eliminated as being not scientific, because it was subjective; this also included quality.What was overlooked, was that the processes of life take place between the structures and that they are of a purely energetic nature. A normal function of the organism presupposes an intact structure and a regular flow of information with an energy potential which is sufficiently high. What else is health?We regard health as a special status, which can only be achieved in an open system with a high energetic expenditure via the formation of dissipative structures far away from the thermodynamic balance. A quantitative analysis is not possible, because complex dynamic processes are involved. The more complex a system is, the more senseless exact statements become. "Health" can not be understood by quantitative examinations, it is rather a question of quality of life. lf somebody does not feel well, he will use laboratory values and other examinations in vain. Quality has much to do with order. Health embodies a high extent of dynamic order. The regeneration of tissue after an inflammation occurs depending on a controlling and regulating flow of information. Chaos must turn into order again. The structure is created by energetic progresses with a high information content. Therefore, quantitative statements about the structure and composition of tissue must always be understood as a description of the information transfer. lt could also be said, that forms are rigid states of information.Therefore, qualitative statements are necessary, to fill the structure of the organism with functions. Purely quantitative statements with man can be compared with the description of the equipment of a theatre, when a play has to be assessed. The one, who looks at the processes in the organisms from a quantitative and qualitative point of view, is the only one, who works purely scientific.
