Eine prospektive Längsschnittstudie bei stationären Migränepatienten als Bestandteil eines Qualitätssicherungsprogramms für NaturheilverfahrenKonzeption und aktueller Stand des Vorhabens

Abstract: In this interim report a prospective observation study is presented, which is not finished yet. This study has been carried out within the framework of an extensive program for the quality management of naturopathically oriented clinics. 426 patients of the clinic for migraine at Königstein with the predominating diagnoses of "migraine" as well as "tension headaches" are included in the study. This sample comprises all patients which were hospitalized during a defined period. The longitudinal study is divided into three phases, i.e. the gathering of data before the hospitalization, the stationary phase with hospitalization and discharge findings as well as a follow-up questioning of the patients up to 12 months after their stay in the clinic. Typical characteristics for the description of migraine as well as the characteristics common for alt diseases including the registration of the quality of life of the patients are gathered to prove the quality of the results. For this purpose, also a patient diary is used. The patients included in this study with an average duration of the disease of 23 years showed a clear restriction of the quality of life in the preliminary examination. The final results of the study will be presented at the end of the year 1997.
