Dynamic psychiatry and modern brain research

Abstract: Identity - a central concept of Dynamic Psychiatry - is formed subconsciously under the forming influence of social energy. According to the present author, the localization in the inconscious is determined by the polysemantic nature of the self-image as a basis of identity. The polysemantic nature of the self-image is related to the right-hemispheric skills which are responsible for image thinking. The right hemisphere is especially open and sensitive to emotional relationships which contain social energy and are also polysemantic in their nature. The task of psychotherapy is to displace the deficient emotional relationships rooted in childhood by the efficient emotional relationships, in order to restore right hemispheric skills and self-image.
