Complementary medicine: the need for audit

Abstract: There is an increasing demand for complementary medicine. This paper reviews some of the audits that have been used within this area of medicine and suggests a strategic approach to the development of complementary medical audit within the National Health Service. It is hoped that this will allow purchasers and practitioners of complementary medicine to determine the effectiveness and cost-benefits of these therapies, at the same time as improving standards of practice.
