The treatment of disorders of the prostate with the rye-grass extract ProstaBrit

Abstract: ProstaBrit (known in Europe as 'Cernilton') is a rye-grass pollen extract which contains a 20:1 ratio of powdered aqueous and organic extract of microbial digest of a standardized mixture of various plant species grown in the Scania area of southern Sweden. ProstaBrit has been widely used in Europe for the treatment of disorders of the prostate for some years (first being used by Dr Ask Upmark in Sweden in 1959). The symptoms of both chronic prostatitis and prostatic outflow obstruction have been shown in various clinical trials to be improved by daily treatment with ProstaBrit. Further studies are currently being performed in order to confirm the effects of ProstaBrit on the symptoms and signs associated with prostatic enlargement.
