Homöopathie - Kunst, Wissenschaft oder Placebo?

Abstract: Homoeopathy is still ranging in the field of complementary medicine, not acknowledged by the official medicine as a reasonable way of medical treatment. This is due to the complexity of the matter as such and the problem of explaining the mechanism of action of ultra high dilutions by means of natural sciences.The attitude of physicians towards homoeopathy has not changed, although numbers of methodologically good clinical trials have been published in the most honourable medical journals. A basic problem with the design of homoeopathic clinical trials is the combination of extreme individual prescription of the remedy and the demands of extreme unindividualized randomised blinded trials in ordinary medicine. In this article 6 studies are discussed, all but one published in ordinary medical journals, in which this compromise has been established in a more or less suitable way. Additionally theories are presented, which might contribute to the understanding of the mechanisms of action in ultra high dilutions in the future.
