Towards Transformation in a violent society: music therapy in South Africa!.

Abstract: Group Music Therapy sessions with adults during the period of political transition in South Africa resulted in the personal / social / political often finding a platform in the sessions. This paper described the process of personal transformation and Integration that can takes place through the use of Improvisation, especially if and when the group is able to enter into collective despair, suffering, feelings of uncertainty and of fear.
