Abstract: Articles in the psychiatric literature continue to remark upon the importance of religion in patients' lives and to call for more research to investigate psychiatric variables. The response is slow at best, but it is likely that the increased public involvement and interest in religious and spiritual matters will eventually be reflected in psychiatric research and practice. In the meantime, the sociology of religion, psychological, and anthropological journals remain a rich source of articles examining religion and mental health.
