Abstract: Various animal experiments suggest an NSAID-like pharmacological effect of Devil's Claw (Harpagophytum procumbens). Several medical reports recommend the therapeutic use of the drug in patients suffering from painful arthropathies. However, no controlled study is available that proves the usefulness of Devil's Claw. Ihe indications for the therapeutic use of the drug remain to be established.
