Abstract: The significance of Candida serology is minimum per se. However, in connection with other findings, such findings may facilitate decisions on therapeutic strategy (in particular systemic therapy with iconazole) considerably. The cellular immune system profile nearly always shows pathological, although uncaracteristic, changes in cases of significant dandidiasis. Increasing numbers of psychomeuroimmunological disturbances are presumably a factor in the greater frequency of unresponsive pathological Candida colonizations seen in recent years. Candida infections can be classified as primarily opportunistic, just like Helicobacter colonisations, and require individual therapy accordingly.
