Methodisches Vorgehen bei der Diagnostik äußerer und innerer Erkrankungen

Abstract: In empiric therapeutics therapeutical measures are determined according to the symptoms of a disease. Scientific medicine looks for the real face of the disease in the characteristics of the underlying disfunctions behind the mask of symptoms and signs. In order to get definite criteria, in Chinese medicine the patient is examined by examination of the outer appearance and especially the tongue, by questioning and by palpation of the pulse. In a second step, the collected findings are classified. In consideration of the findings of pulse and tongue it can be distinguished, whether the disease is situated rather in the field of active forces than in the fluids, externally or internally, whether it is characterized by "overheating" and an increased dynamics or by "undercooling" and vital processes which are slowed down, whether the healthy forces are decimated and must be supported or whether first of all a relief of pathologically changed, irriated and destructive energy is necessary. If in the third step the characteristics of the results of the examination are clarified by considerations, which disease-inducing factors have lead to the mentioned disturbances and which functional areas are included, the presuppositions for a rational therapy exist.
