Differenzierung der Behandlung von Erkältungskrankheiten nach schulmedizinischen und naturheilkundlichen Methoden anhand der Traditionellen Chinesischen Medizin

Abstract: The classification of a group of diseases into subgroups makes sense, when different therapeutical strategies can be derived from such a classification. Normally a cold is understood as an acute respiratory infection with a mostly viral etiology. With certain individuals, bacterial superinfections occur as complications which often lead to a protracted course. A differentiation can be carried out according to clinical and etiological points of view. In practice one often confines oneself to a clinical diagnosis. Normally a symptomatic treatment is performed, assuming that the cold runs a spontaneous benign course. The etiological diagnosis makes sense in the case of epidemiological studies, with the aim to produce vaccines which are more suitable or in the case of bacterial superinfection, to use antibiotics more purposeful. Contrary to traditional medicine, the TCM postulates in the case of colds a physical agent, i.e. the coldness wind. This induces a certain clinical picture of great constancy in a predisposed organism. This dependence of clinical pictures on climatic factors is also known in the Western world. In China a whole pathology has developed from such observations.
