Meditative Verfahren in der klinischen Praxis

Abstract: For many years it has been known, that meditation and related procedures constitute an important healing factor in the treatment of physical and mental diseases, and therefore we will present our experience gathered during seven years of clinicotherapeutical work with meditation. Definition and delimitation of different meditative procedures is not the goal of this article. From our experience gathered so far it becomes clear, that it is legitimated from the therapeutical point of view, that various forms of meditation coexist. In this case no questions with respect to the view of life are concerned, but rather the possibility to positively influence human development processes. The work presented, still is not in a phase, which makes a scientific assessment possible, it is in the phase of planning, but from the experience gathered so far, it is possible to draw conclusions, that by meditation and related procedures, important healing and development processes can be influenced in a favorable way. In this connection we mention the work of Carl 0. Simonton, which is based mainly on meditation. Important factors for the effectiveness of meditation are on the one hand the meditating person him/herself and on the other hand the guiding person and the form of meditation itself. In addition, the interrelation of the three factors is of great importance. The goal is, that a person, who comes into contact with meditation for the first time, learns to meditate independently. In the protected environment of the hospital, people can gather experience with meditation for themselves and they can familiarize themselves with meditation. This environment also offers the possibility, to work on experience out of meditation and to integrate it into personal development processes.
