Abstract: In 108 patients with iron-deficiency anemia heart volumes (by telerentgenocardiography), vegetative (autonomic) index of heart rhythm, and tolerance to physical exercise were determined. Exercise tolerance in these patients depended not only on peripheral blood hemoglobin level but also on heart volume-values and vegetative (autonomic) index of heart rhythm. With Increase In heart volume and elevation of sympathetic tone in women threshold work loads sharply decreased. The results allow to suggest that drugs improving myocardial metabolism and regulating autonomic support of the heart can be used as supplement to conventional treatment of iron-deficiency anemia.
