Probing human cognition with music and measures of brain electrical activity

Abstract: By understanding how musical building blocks are represented at different levels of the brain, as well as understanding how higher level musical contexts generate expectancies in a neural substrate, we can ask how the neural codes representing the sensory (bottom-up) and cognitive (top-down) information interact to give rise to the subjective musical experience.
