Osteopathy on the NHS: one practice's experience

Abstract: This study reviews osteopathic practice in one general practice in East London. The patient profile shows that the service was used by a wide range of individuals with a great variety of presenting problems. A questionnaire administered to a sample showed that treatment was associated with a marked subjective improvement in pain, mobility and general well-being.Comparing the medical notes of another sample, before and after treatment, demonstrated a statistically significant reduction in consultation and prescribing rates.
