Bedeutung der endogenen Lektine im Metastasierungsprozeß - ihre Beeinflußbarkeit durch proteolytische Enzyme

Author(s): Schulze, S., Rimpler, M.

Abstract: Endogenous lectins are known as a group of membrane molecules involved in cellular adhesion. The present investigation shows, that1. treatment of tumor cells with proteases can bring about a change in endogenous lectins of the cell surface,2. as well as this treatment can alter the adhesion of cells on lactosyl albumin. The murine lymphoma cells Eb showed, after treatment with 100µg per ml bromelain, a reduced binding of peroxidase that will be bound by mannose specific endogenous lectins. An enhanced binding, however, was found when examining the highly metastatic variant ESb. Two more cell lines (murine melanoma and human bladder carcinoma) revealed a reduced binding of peroxidase after treatment with 200µg per ml bromelain. The adhesion of bladder carcinoma cells on lactosyl albumin was completely abolished following pretreatment of cells with 100µg per ml bromelain.
