The Blackthorn Trust: expanding a national health practice

Abstract: The Blackthorn Trust began 10 years ago as a 1 day a week experiment in collaboration between a NHS general practitioner and an art therapist. Today it involves four GPs and four therapists, and includes a rehabilitation work project, with gardens, a cafe and a bakery, involving a further three people with special skills in counselling, gardening, baking and social development. This article is a biographical sketch of the project, describing some of the milestones in its development.
