The university project Münchener Modell for the Integration of Naturopathy into Research and Teaching at the Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich

Abstract: This article describes the activities of the Münchener Modell for the lntegration of Naturopathy at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich between 1989 and 1992. Within this university research project financed by the Bavarian State, a course of study, Naturopathy, was set up and put into action. In an annual cycle, 120 students were taken on during each of the first 2 years; in the third year 200 students enrolled. In the winter semesters the students could visit general introductory courses and courses giving introductions into various naturopathic techniques. In the summer semester optional advanced courses were offered. The course of study was systematically evaluated by student and lecturer questionnaires which showed a high acceptance by students as well as lecturers. The main research topics of immunomodulation and literature evaluation were set up and research was begun in these rields.In years to come the Münchener Modell will particularly concentrate its efforts on further research and post-graduate instruction.
