Paracelsus und die Humoralmedizin

Abstract: Paracelsus was an opponent of humoral medicine. Neither theory nor practice of galenism can be accepted from his point of view. The galenistic humoral physicians themselves were also convinced of the incompatibility of both systems. They included only some of Paracelsus' drugs into their own d-g treasury, but by doing so they did themselves a grave disservice in the long run. Bernhard Aschner was aware of the contrast but he was looking - guided by an aspiration to medical omnipotence and misguided by exaggerated healing promises of Paracelsus - for complements of the humoral-therapeutical and constitutional-therapeutical skill in the works of Paracelsus, for miracle drugs for diseases which are still untreatable today. By doing so he created the basis for a misinterpretation of Paracelsus which still exists today.
