Therapie von Zyklusstörungen mit Vitex agnus-castus

Abstract: Hyperprolactinaemia is one of the most frequent causes for cyclical disorders. This is valid for the whole scale from luteal insufficiency to secondary amenorrhoea. By sufficient reduction of such raised prolactin levels in most cases a regular cycle can be restored.13 patients with hyperprolactinaemia and cyclic disorders were treated for three months with Mastodynon N, a preparation containing an extract of Vitex agnus-castus. In all cases prolactin levels were reduced significantly, in some of the patients prolactin levels even returned to the normal range. Corresponding to the prolactin decrease the menstrual cycle returned in all 13 patients to normal.
