Hirnorganisches Psychosyndrom und Depression im höheren Lebensalter

Abstract: Depressive symptoms are very frequent among people over 65 years of age, inwhich group the prevalence rate is between 10% and 20%. Somatic ailments may also, just like senile debility, mask an involutional depression and render diagnosis very difficult. Involutional depressions are depressive manifestations that occur in the so-called involutional period. Differential diagnosis of involutional depressions and organic, i.e. cerebral dementia is described.
