Petrasolinum crispum (MILL.) A. W. HILL

Abstract: Petroselinum crispum (MILL.) A. W. HILL, garden parsley, is a wefl known culinary and drug plant with a long Tradition. The drug and its preparations were used for many different applications, as mentioned old herbal books. Application as a diuretic is the most important. Characteristic groups of compounds of parsley are essential oil with apiole, myristicin, p-mentha-1,3,8triene, terpinolene and ß-pinen as major constituents, flavonoids with apiin, furanocoumarins with oxypeucedanin and polyacetylenes as main compounds. In contrast to the frequent use in different disorders a long time ago, the importance of parsley as a medicinal plant has diminished.
