Schmerztherapie - akuter Herpes Zoster- Postzosterische Neuralgie -

Abstract: Herpes zoster is a frequently occurring disease, mainly elderly patients are suffering from, which is often associated with severe pain and a prolonged postzoster neuralgia in the acute phase. The incidence increases with advanced age. A weakened immunological status, as it is the case with auto-aggressive diseases and immunosuppression, means that the patient is predisposed, to an infection.A pain therapy, especially for a prophylaxis in the case of the postzoster neuralgia must be specific and must take place as early as possible.The spectrum is manifold and reaches from the use of a drug therapy with simple analgetics up to a graduated plan according to the rules of the tumor pain therapy. in addition to the drug stabilization especially methods from the field of complementary medicine, as e, g. acupuncture or electrostimulation as well as the therapeutical regional anesthesia are widely used. The general therapeutical principle, especially in the case of mainly elderly and weak patients, must be an individual and smooth stabilization. A long-term and psychological strategy should be taken into consideration.
