A Research on Synesthesias in a Case of Heavy Regression

Abstract: The experience dealt with has been carried out by eight students of the Quadriennal Course of Music Therapy organised by the PCC of Assisi, with Dr. Postacchini's supervision. The authors describe a case of heavy psychomotor regression in a five year old girl with a controversial diagnosis of Rett Syndrome, who has taken part in music therapy sessions since the age of three and a half. The child's rhythm, space, movement and covalisation have been explored during the supervision in a context of direct participating observation. The pathogenic unconscious is the reference model; empathic reflection is the technique adopted here. As regards to results, it has been posssible to observe the child's evolution towards a reappropriation of her corporeality, meanwhile supervision has shown that it is necessary to distinguish didactic formation in music therapy from the supervision of the case.
