Overuse injuries incurred by musicians

Abstract: This paper reviews the literature on overuse injuries experienced by musicians. Clinically valuable knowledge is presented in order to aid the clinician in providing optimal care for musicians. Instrument-specific overuse injuries are discussed with regards to the mechanism of injury, causes and effects on performance. Recommendations are given to the physical therapist, music educator, and musician. (36 ref)
