Immundiagnostik bei Tumorkranken

Abstract: The present survey summarizes some of the immunological procedures applied in the diagnosis of malignoma patients. Special emphasis is payed to the immuno-phenotyping of lymphocytes by flow cytometry, to the analysis of lymphocyte function by skintesting (Multitest Merieux) or by the in vitro lymphocyte transformation test and to the differential analysis of lymphocyte function by in vitro cytokine measurement. The analysis of monocyte/macrophage function by phagocytosis and chemoluminescence assay and the future role of NK-cell testing is also discussed. All results prerented point to a significant defect of unspecific and specific cellular immune function in malignoma patients. The immunological procedures should be used only in special cases since they are all highly cost effective.
