The Basics of Health Education with Children and Youths

Abstract: A study involving 1,827 pupils aged between 10 and 20 years has shown that even in this age group there is a high percentage of people who regularly smoke or drink alcohol. With increasing age the bodily activity of the pupils decreases. Additionally the nutrition of the pupils does not take into account recent scientific findings about cardiovascular risk factors. The comprehension shown by the children and youths of adequate health behaviour has an the whole proven rather fragmentary. In all fields there were great differences in understanding depending an sex and educational backgrounds.
